Get Certified

Getting Started:

ED Certification uses a defined set of evidence-based standards to assess the quality, safety, and effectiveness of emergency care services. The focus of ED Certification is the Emergency Department as a whole, evaluating key areas such as but not limited to, leadership and governance, clinical care processes, patient safety, workforce competency, performance improvement, and patient experience. The certification process assesses how effectively the ED delivers timely, safe, and coordinated care while ensuring continuous quality improvement.

A critical step in the certification journey is conducting a comprehensive self-assessment to determine the certification level ED is applying for. This self-evaluation helps the organization to review and map its current status of conformance to a specific level and assess compliance with the certification standards.

By pursuing ED Certification, organizations gain valuable insights into their emergency care operations and receive a structured framework for enhancing performance. The certification process supports the development of robust clinical and operational practices, helping Emergency Departments achieve excellence in care delivery, improve patient outcomes, and strengthen their reputation as providers of high-quality emergency services.
